May 11, 2000 - Founding meeting at
91A Fourth Avenue (Friends Meeting House), Ottawa, ON under the
name "The May 11 Group"
June 10, 2000 - Second meeting September
2000 - Participated in the Winnipeg International Conference on
War-Affected Children September 16, 2000 - Formally adopted the
name "Global Nonviolent Peace Force - Canada"; Co-ordinating
Committee expanded and Saturday afternoon program/meeting format
adopted
October 2000 - Presented at St. Lawrence Regional Quaker Gathering
(Hans Sinn and Carl Stieren)
October 2000 - Presented at Canadian Peace Alliance Convention,
St. Catharines, ON (Hans Sinn and Carl Stieren) November 4, 2000
- Meeting with speaker Kai Frithjof of the Peace Action, Training
and Research Institute of Romania (PATRIR); adopted mission
statement
January 11-14, 2001 - Held Canadian Retreat
at Carmen Trails Hostel, Wakefield, Québec, and hosted
the Interim Steering Committee of GNPF-International

staff for three weeks to get web site, resource centre, new
bookkeeping system started
August 15, 2001 - Visit to Pearson Peacekeeping
Centre at Cornwallis, Nova Scotia, by six members and friends
of GNPF-Canada who were in Nova Scotia for the Quaker gathering,
Canadian Yearly Meeting.
August 16, 2001 - General Meeting at Windsor,
Nova Scotia, at Kings-Edgehill School - adopted the name "Nonviolent
Peaceforce Canada" to harmonize with new name of the international
group ("Nonviolent Peaceforce").
