NPC Welcomes New Coordinating Committee Members!
NPC welcomed three new Coordinating Committee members over the summer. Colin Stuart, long time activist for peace and social justice, international development professional and university professor, assumed the role of Treasurer with NPC just after his return from Israel and Palestine, where he spent ten days as a member of a Christian Peacemaker Teams delegation.
Sumita Dixit, a DFAIT employee with a background in peace studies from Bradford University and experience volunteering for a year with Nonviolence
International in Thailand, agreed to join the Coordinating Committee after actively participating in the Outreach and Education Committee for almost a year. Lisa Ndejuru, a Montreal peace activist who spent the first weeks of the invasion of Iraq in Baghdad with the Iraq Peace Team, joined the coordination of NPC in September, after returning from work in Baghdad with the Iraq Solidarity Project.

Appeal from PBI

We would like to thank you for your continued support of Peace Brigades International (PBI) and the many letters you have already sent regarding the situation in Aceh, Indonesia.

We are re-activating our emergency response network due to a further deterioration of the situation in Aceh since the introduction of new restrictions on the activities of international and local NGOs (Non Governmental Organizations). We are concerned that these new restrictions could force the withdrawal of PBI from Aceh.
